Position: SR Software Engineer

Location: Cambridge, MA

Length: 6-12 Months

Rate: DOE

Our client is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to be part of the HR & Grants Management Group.  The Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for the technical architecyture, detailed technical design and development of Java/J2EE software modules and components to support client.  The applications in these areas are custom developed and primarily in Java.  Responsibilities include requirement analysis, technical design and development of new software modules and the enhancement of existing ones.  The ideal candidate will contribute equally to the design and development of core architectural components, the development of UI and Java components and the definition of back end database needs.  Will also contribute to the future architectural direction of the application and participating in analysis and evaluation of industry best practices and emerging technologies.

A strong background in Front-end, Back-end and Middleware Development.
- BS Degree or equivalent work experience
- 4-8 years experience in the detailed technical design and development of Java/J2EE
- Must have strong communication skills
- Ability to design UI and Java components and the definition of back-end database changes
- Experience with full software lifecycle
- Technical Skills: J2EE, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, JMS, JSF, Struts, Spring, EJB, XML, AJAX, SOAP, Oracle, SQL, Weblogic and both UNIX & Window

Any experience with Perl, Python, C are a plus.

- This role will be 80% code/development along with 20% production / support and maintenance of the custom application.  An on-call support once a month will be required.
